| Exact Audio Copy is a freeware ripper (actually cardware, just send a stamped post card to the author) that creates incredibly clean and accurate .wav files from your CDs. The software comes with an automatic error correction device during ripping that detects errors such as dust and scratches and makes the necessary changes to produce an almost totally accurate wave. If it can't correct the errors (which doesn't happen often), it tracks the errant position in the wave so you can manually fix it. The software will not convert to mp3 on its own, you need a supported encoder to plug into it. |
