Hi,

I've got an english sub whitch is in sync dvdrip and I've got dutch subs who aren't (hdtv) and can't be sync via subsync or other's. Now the question is . Is their any software that automatically takes the dutch text and paste's it over the enlgish while containing the english timeline ?

thnx

hi franky. if you get subtitleworkshop you can have 2 sub tracks opened together. you can open the english one and then go to edit, translation, translator mode, then you load the other subs. when you save the translated subs it will be synched as the first one. BUT what if the number of lines don't match?

it's simpler to synch the dutch subs with timeadjuster. open the file then click "synchronize". just tell the app when the foirst line starts and when the last line starts (you can see that from the english subs), click "apply" and the subs will be synched.

both apps are in our software's section. as regards subtitleworkshop there's also an excellent guide written by tbb in our articles section.

good luck :)

Some randam Rafke P thoughts ...

I'm not sure if there is such a program, but if both subtitle files contain exactly the same number subtitle entries it's easy to write a program which does it for you.

Maybe the translate function in subtitle workshop can be of help

In case subsync can't sync the whole file, cut it up in parts and sync the parts individually.

PM me if you need more help.

EDIT : I really need to type faster :o)

Well I tried the time adjuster app and it runs sync in the beginning but not anymore in the end like I get with subsync ( I use this for many years now)

The subtitle workshop won't work either because the numbers aren't correct. @ line 179 their's allready 1 differant sentence.

Any suggestions ? I know I could chop them up but I don't like to know hwo the story goes from reading the subtitltes to mutch :d

once i got that  with some italian and english subs. i treid to synch them for a while then and realised the initial and final lines didn't match - example the first line was the title in italian and not in english or one of the subs had final credits and the other one didn't, but for the rest the subs were the same. so i just removed the extra lines and timeadjuster did the trick.

check that, maybe that's the case.

and if you want send the subs to me, i have np trying and let you know what i did if i succeed. use the address in my profile.

If nothing else works you could try the 4 ways of synching described in Subtitle Workshop's manual here: Program Files\Subtitle Workshop\Help\Manual.html

Method 1 is the easiest and method 4 the hardest, but usually one of them works (though some rare subtitles can't be synched unless you alter the timings line by line...)
