Hey people.

What the heck is it with people and wanting to have this absolutel heap of shite, Panda Internet Security!!!?

Im sorry, buts it the number one piece of shitty anti-virus software ive ever came across. Stops you from doing anything online, conflicts with any other anti-virus software and anti-ad programs too. Fucking heap of shite!!!

Right, problem!

Family member has installed it on their computer, it wont uninstall. It says certain pieces of the program are missing and wont uninstall. Is there any programs which can run uninstallers and remove all traces of any program and remove them from the pc?

Secondly, they want McAfee on their computer too since it came free with their Broadband Cd. Again, ive told them its a heap of shite too and they dont need it. All they need is common sense and not to click stupid things.

They have an absolute beast of a PC, and its something id die for, but they have completely wrecked it.

Im thinking a reformat....

Any help?

What is the tech specification of your PC and what OS it runs?

Anyway, my new notebook came with the Norton Internet Security ... the first thing that I did was to uninstall it. Do not use their gifts :)

Inspite of all the 'great' advice you can find on the Internet, if you use Vista, its internal firewall is good enough, just add to it an AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition:

http://free.grisoft.com/

I have been using this combination for the half year and I am satisfied, and so are almost all my frends.

At the work we use Symantec AV corporate client, it is also not bad, but for home users I recommend AVG

ach, its something like

150gb hard drive
3.0ghz intel processor
2 gb ram.

Thats the only spec i remember really.

I think i will get them to stick with this awg one instead.

Just need to remove mcafee and panda first...

Candy's solution is more then worth a try. In addition, to get rid of possible other junk, I recommand hitman pro. Now this could take a while cause it runs a whole bunch of anit spyware and adware software scripted. No need to install all the tools. Hitman does the job for you. This should get the system spot on again. As for te anti-virus, try NOD32. I have it running both my home PC and my server and have to say it totaly rocks. It's very light on resources, updates every day (or even more then once if needed) and maybe the most important thing of all, you hardly notice it's there. It is recommnanded to install NOD32 before you run hitman pro. Hitman Pro uses NOD32 to sweep for virusses. Also uninstall previous installed anti spyware and adware progs.

Hitman pro and NOD32 always do the job for me :)

I'm happy with F-secure and Spybot search and destroy.

i managed to get rid of panda.

but theres two files which are causing problems.

r?gedit.exe

yes thats a question mark in there. Ive tried using SDFix which finds the file and says it has removed it, but it cant do anymore than that.

The other file, i cant remember the name. They both try to access the internet and for now ive told them just to tell mcafee to block it.

Any ideas?

Alan
