Downloaded some .avi files in divx or xvid format. At one point the files crash mediaplayer classic and the new one. If I skip past those moments with the timebar there is no problem and I can view the avi normally. Anybody got a clue how to fix this error? Might be good to know that I downloaded the files as a .avi-file with bittorent. So it could be possible that bittorent screwed one bit of the movie up :) |

I'd say try bsplayer. And use gspot to see what codec's are used. Try the avi on someone else his PC. |

In MPC : Options > Playback > Output and switch DirectShow Video to something else, usually Overlay Mixer is most compatible. If that didn't fix it, using AviSynth with the basic DirectShowSource(movie name) or AviSource(movie name) should have no problems. |

Okay, so yesterday i downloaded a newer version of ffdshow because i wanted to see some matroska/x264/something files which didnt play properly. So i uninstalled the old ffdshow and installed the new one, and just now i was watching a small clip of DotA Allstars (aka the greatest game of all time, almost) when it happened, a "boom crash". Tried watching again, but at the exact same point crash again. Skipped over it and played fine..for minute or 2 atleast, then there was another crash point. I did also installed some other matroska codec thingie so i donno, maybe it fucked my system. But might be that there´s something in the newer ffdshow...or then the movie was just somehow bad, but i donno...i smell something fishy. Edit: Btw i tried divxfix, no errors found. And my MPC was using Overlay Mixer as default so that no help either. Edit 2: Ah solved my problem. The movie was using MP43 codec, so i grabbed some codec for it and tried to watch. Still crashed. Then i saw on crash report that it was libavcodec that crashed, so i went to ffdshow options and disabled the use of libavcodec for MP43 files. Didn´t crash now, yay. :) Maybe it would have worked without downloading that external Codec just by disabling the libavcodec, donno. |
