I have a problem, I was ripping a movie and cannot open a log file, damn thing is 1.6 Gb for some reason. I wanna see what it says.

Word 2000 and TextPad wont open it, Notepad of course just says, disk is full haha

Any other proggies out there?

I would start with a DOS window : type logfile.txt and see what is says at the end (that's usually where the error is).

If that fails you can add |more to it.

Maybe you can try to split it with hjsplit and open the parts with notepad,
but I'm not sure if that's possible.

try using "textpad"

www.textpad.com

has opened any file for me, but don't know about that size, largest I opened was 700meg

As I'm one of those *nix nerds, I have to push a little for vi ;)

http://www.vim.org/download.php

It's a bit tricky to work with until you learn how to use it, but it's very powerful once you get to grip with it. I don't know if there's any limit on file sizes in the windows version, on *nix it opens all files regardless of size.

ultraedit should be able to do it....however vdub seems to have dumped videodata in text format in the log file, there won't be anything but "^&^&*&%^BKLJGUIO*()(T^BJ" stuff in there

well if you're going to try  'vi', since it's a linux prog, try 'tail', which lets you display the last 'n' lines of any file.. there's bound to be a windows cmd line port of that..

in fact, it took me 5secs to find

http://tailforwin32.sourceforge.net/

you dont need to load the entire file, just the end of it right? well up to you..

edit: hmm, this prog doesnt look too promising, but only 30k so give it a try anyway..

most text programs will crash if the file is 1.6gb in my opinion..
I would open it in dos
type edit , find it there and open it
