Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday of a possible drug overdose in a Lower Manhattan apartment, the New York Police Department said.

The Academy Award-nominated actor was 28.

Ledger was found naked and unresponsive, facedown on the floor at the foot of his bed by a housekeeper trying to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse, said police spokesman Paul Browne.

Yeah, I heard. The actor from Brokeback Mountain. 28 is much too young to die. May he rest in peace.

I don't have the slightest idea how Mr. Ledger has been as a person, but I really liked his acting and his presence on the screen. Even in (silly) films like "A Knight's Tale" he had this something about him, a mocking expression in his eyes. He always seemed to be knowing more than all the others. I think we would have seen even more impressive work by this young actor. That would have been way better than the legends that certainly will arise because of his death, just like it happened with River Phoenix, Brandon Lee and James Dean. I am not sure I like this whole becoming-a-legend-simply-by-dying-young-thing. As for Heath Ledger: whatever his problems have been, whatever the reason for his death, I hope his soul can rest in peace now.
